Reasons to be Happy!

In this world you might think that there’s nothing to be happy for. Well, it depends where you look and how you look at things around you, because there’s a lot of thing to be happy. Dont you believe me?

In the first place, we are not sick. During this hard times it’s really hard to stay healthy and out of troubles, big troubles. I’m happy that i am fine and can still do what i want to do, something that lot of us don’t have anymore. Be also happy that you can pay for you health, if you get sick. I’m sure that some people around you are not porbably able to do that.

We can have a home, buy food and afford what we want. I live in Germany and people here can do what they want and buy what they want. We are “rich” and, at the end of the day, we live a comfortable life. We might have our problems of or stress we have to deal with daily, but at least we don’t live on the street, we don’t starve and we have money…three things that hundreds of million of people don’t have.

Freedoms define our society and we can live without any kind of fear to be killed or locked in because we say or do something wrong, like tell what we think about something. People who live in Hong Kong, China, North Korea and Russia, for example, die or disappear if they don’t line their opinion with the “official one”. Despite what people say that “our freedoms are in danger”, because we have to stay home more and wear a face mask, we are still free to do and say what we want…and those idiots have no idea what means to live with the fear.

You can do whatever you want of your life. Every career is possible and there’s no limit of the thing you can do. The only thing you have to do is learn, be good in school and university, work hard, improve and then sky’s the limit. Be really happy for it: defining who you are is a freedom and a right that not everyone is able to exercise.

If you have a family, be happy that you partner and your kids are alive, healthy and safe. We live in a part of the world where we are pretty safe, war is far away ad we can walk outside without any kind of fear. Be glad that, despite what the government does, you are able to go somewhere and come back home, where your family waits for you!

Yes, this specific period in our history is hard to live, lot of bad news, uncertainty and stress. But there’s no reason not to be happy for those things you have. All the things i wrote might be obvious and stupid, but as soon as you don’t have them, you are gonna miss a lot.

I’m happy, despite everything. You?

Mauro.

  1. Nowadays life is a lot easier in generally and most of us tend to forget this wasn’t always the case. Not everything is handed to us on a silver platter but being of a decent socioeconomic status/middle class and above comes with significant privilege. Many of the things we take for granted cannot be afforded by those who are less fortunate. Again, it’s all about perspective.

To quote: “If you have food in the refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof over your head and a place to sleep, then you are automatically richer than 75 percent of this world. If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a dish someplace then you are among the top eight per cent of the world’s wealthy.”

Most of us in society will cross this threshold but in poorer countries, this is a far away dream. We must always practice gratitude because the blessings bestowed upon us are far greater in number than what we believe we are missing.

Thank you for yet another insightful post! x

    1. Woow! That’s a wonderfu of a comment. We have only just one life and we should not waste it complaining about what we don’t have. We should start to take a look around and see what’s really going on. Only then we can start to live better. Thank you!!
